Court of Appeal
The Court of Appeal of Yukon hears appeals of decisions made by the Territorial Court and the Supreme Court of Yukon in civil and criminal matters. Appeals from the Court of Appeal go to the Supreme Court of Canada. (www.scc-csc.gc.ca)
The Court of Appeal is made up of justices of the British Columbia Court of Appeal and justices from the Yukon Territory, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
The Court of Appeal sits in Whitehorse for one week, twice a year. Many of the cases are heard when the Court sits in Vancouver. There are registries in both Whitehorse and Vancouver.
New Court of Appeal Civil Rules and Forms came into effect on April 29, 2005.
